Inaugural Jeff Sessions Scholarship Recipients Announced
The Red River Charitable Foundation recently announced 11 recipients of the 2020 Jeff Sessions Memorial Scholarship. Each recipient will receive $5,000 to support their educational goals in the technology field.
Jeff Sessions worked in executive leadership roles at Red River for over a decade and was the company’s CEO from 2017 to 2019, when he and his wife were killed in a tragic accident. This scholarship was established in Sessions’ name to preserve his unwavering commitment to the military community. It funds educational pursuits for active duty and retired military pursuing careers in technology.
“Jeff was an amazing leader, colleague and friend who ardently believed in STEM-based education and supported the military community with passion and determination,” said Dan McGee, Red River COO. “I am proud that we are able to provide this scholarship in his honor and make a difference in the lives of these individuals.”
The 2020 scholarship recipients are: Olufikayo Akintola, Army; Lance Ambourn, Navy; Lester Banks, Air Force; Dwight Brown, Air Force; James DiCesare, Army; Pedro Gonzalez, Marines and Navy; Anson George, Marines & Navy; Courtney Leavitt, Army; Randall Parks, Marines; Stephanie Puzak, Air Force; and Ruben Tapia, Marines.
The Jeff Sessions Memorial Scholarship will re-open to active duty and retired military transitioning to a career in IT again later in 2021. Supporting a wide variety of educational opportunities, the Sessions Memorial Scholarship can be tailored to the unique needs of the applicant. This includes certification courses, seminars, books or supplies. As many post-military careers follow non-traditional paths, this scholarship is flexible to support that transition.
