National Women’s History Month | “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope”
The 2022 Women’s History theme, “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” is both an acknowledgment of the tireless work of caregivers and frontline workers amidst a pandemic as well as a recognition of the many ways that women of all cultures and backgrounds have provided both healing and hope throughout history.
This month is focused on celebrating the importance of the women who are helping to promote and sustain hope for the future, especially amidst a global pandemic. By encouraging communities to honor local women who have supported their families, friends, coworkers or complete strangers, March places an emphasis on women who have lessened someone’s pain, restored someone’s dignity or have made decisions for the good of humankind.
According to CARE’s 2021 Rapid Gender Analysis and the impact of the pandemic on both men’s and women’s lives across 38 countries, the number of women who reported mental health impacts from COVID-19 was approximately three times that of men. Based on the supporting statistics, more than a quarter of women reported increased stress, anxiety and other mental health struggles. With many schools rapidly opening and closing, many mothers have experienced more stress and responsibilities in the family, including home-schooling children, all while managing their own psychological responses to COVID-19.
Every year, March is designated as Women’s History Month. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions in American history and recognize women in local communities across the nation. To increase awareness of women and impact they create, Red River will host sessions for its employees to collaborate and provide ideas on how to effectively attract, retain and empower women at the company.
Red River proudly honors those women who, in both public and private life, provide healing and promote hope.
